April 11th is National Pet Day!

My parents love their traffic-stopping Briards; the Morris clan has been a dog-loving bunch for decades. In our home, it is no secret that Yoda Morris (Bernedoodle, age 2) steals the show.

In honor of National Pet Day, hope you enjoy these #dogownerhacks.

DogOwnerHack1: Let your kids help refill your dog’s food and water bowl. It teaches them responsibility and helps keep your dog fed.

DogOwnerHack2: Make a routine and stick to it. Like people, we have noticed our pet likes a routine! I run him outdoors twice/week; our nanny and kids take him to the park at least once per week, as does Hal; Fridays Sir Yoda goes to the dog beach to play with his friends.

DogOwnerHack3: Let all family members participate in training. (It’s the humans that need to be trained, not the dog.)

Special Guest Hacks by the One and Only Sydney Leung!

DogOwnerHack4: A tired dog is a good dog.  Exercising with your dog is good for you, but it is especially important for the dog by releasing all their anxious energy.  You will have a mellow and napping dog all day after the exercise.

DogOwnerHack5: As we slowly return to the office, we may want to start readjusting the dog back on our work schedule.  Leave the dog in a separate room when you go to your “office” at home.  Check on them at lunch and go for a walk.  And “pick them up” when you are done with work.  This will ease them back into our post-pandemic schedule.
