There is no elevator to success.

Last week at the University Club, an entrepreneur and a mom of a toddler asked why hard work often gets overshadowed in the bedazzled spotlight of success. Her question prompted me to reflect on a value that was instilled in me as a kid, and that Hal & I work to instill in our children: the power of grit. No matter how effortless others’ success may seem, there is no elevator to it. As the steep hills on my recent ski trip reminded me, you are often best served to take life one turn at a time, tuning out the distraction around you.

Hack of the Week

Life Hack #67: To quote my dear friend and athletic coach to the stars Abdul Sillah: “Start strong, finish stronger.” If you burn out halfway through the race, you’re not going to finish it with as much grace, if at all. Sure, you’re going to need to course-correct along the way. Said every athlete and parent everywhere!

Drumroll please…..
