Giving Tuesday Spotlight: #kind-ed

One of my favorite University of Chicago Booth students, Jane Kim, is a social impact entrepreneur. Her start-up, #Kind-Ed, has created a 40-lesson series for 8th and/or 9th graders on developing mindful and healthy habits vis a vis social media and phone use. Can hardly stand how necessary this is. Thankfully, Kim is putting her 8 years of experiencing teaching in the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to inform the curricular design for #Kind-Ed.

During her time as a Chicago University Harris School of Public Policy masters degree student, she took a few courses “across the street” at Booth, mine on Women as Investors, Directors, CEOs and Executives being one of them. She germinated her start up while a grad student, refining it further as The Obama Foundation Scholar.

Fast forward two years, her inaugural pilot goes live in CPS on January 2025. I for one believe the platform should touch most 8th graders as quickly as possible throughout the US.
