An Actual Golden Ticket

A Major League Baseball (Lifetime) Pass
MLB “Gold” (Lifetime) Pass to all National and American League Ballparks is more real than the Wonka Version
In honor of the upcoming Father’s Day weekend, I thought folks might find it interesting to hear about one more insight into the life of MLB players like my super cool husband, and a tremendous father, Hal Morris.
When hanging artwork in our home in Winnetka six years ago, I stumbled upon a framed “golden ticket” from Hal’s vast baseball memorabilia collection. When I asked about it, he shared that when players have players in the big leagues (Major League Baseball) for over 10 years, they receive a literal “golden ticket” to enter any MLB ballpark around the country for any regular season game for the rest of their lives. Here I had thought that golden tickets were a pure fiction as demonstrated in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. But no, a real golden ticket exists.
Then I asked how many times my wonderful husband had used his golden ticket. He said a whopping zero.
So you’ll be very pleased to know that on one fine day this May of 2023, Hal Morris brought his bona fide golden ticket to Wrigley Field, serendipitously and conscientiously, for a Cubs vs. Reds match-up. Not knowing what would transpire, I was pleasantly surprised and very pleased to see that the timeless golden ticket did indeed provide its holder with two tickets to the game as promised, tickets that were promptly loaded into Mr. Morris’ MLB Ballpark app (needed to enter all ballparks today with digital ticket entry).
So mission accomplished. We confirmed that the MLB promise of lifetime entry is real and that the concept of a golden ticket is not limited to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
