Don’t Reinvent the Wheel: #Staycation

There were many summer vacations torpedoed by COVID-19 due to travel
constraints/imposed quarantines. So in the end, I decided NOT to reinvent the wheel. This past week my family and I decided to stick with old reliable: visiting dear friends in Michigan at their lake house as our summer escape. It was close to home, filled with food, friends, and frolic. Beautiful sunsets, boat
rides, and plentiful time playing outdoors were all it took to provide reprieve and
rejuvenation for daily life back home.

Life Hack #9: Cook together.

We have had a ball making some old favorites together, dressing up other favorites with a new twist, and creating new recipes.

Life Hack #12: (Still) do something for yourself DAILY.

In Leadership and Life Hacks, I talk about putting on your own oxygen mask first each and every day. In other words, do something to take care of yourself. This holds true as much as ever in the sheltering-at-home age.

Hack #19: Don’t Reinvent the Wheel

I rinse and repeat the gifts that our kids have received from other kids and loved. I buy more of them to give other kids! No need to reinvent the wheel when searching for gifts or DIY activities to keep young learners engaged and inspired during COVID-19. [e.g., LEGOs, LEGOs, LEGOs, and LEGOs are perennial favorites in our home—it seems they are as timeless as wooden blocks].
