Celebrations and Stretch Goals.

On this extraordinary weekend in American history, wishing you and yours peace, health, and prosperity. To quote Condoleezza Rice, “The essence of America, that which really unites us, is not ethnicity or nationality or religion. It is an idea, and what an idea it is — that you can come from humble circumstances and do great things.”

  • Life Hack #72: Celebrate good times.

Work hard, play hard—and work out afterward. ‘Nuff said.

  • Set stretch goals (new!).

This week, Audrey began virtual Interlochen Camp, and I was once again reminded how adaptable children are. One of Audrey’s musical stretch goals this summer is to learn the 1812 overture (the tune that underscores 4th of July fireworks!).

Here is how we’re tackling her stretch goal:
(1) Admit it’s a stretch;
(2) Have her favorite piano teacher help her break down the notes in pencil first on the sheet music;
(3) Set an achievable goal of 1 measure vs entire piece for starters.

How do you turn an 800 lb gorilla? By the hand, one step at a time…
