It is always better to overcommunicate than under-communicate.

We’re officially in Week 2 of #hacksthetour, and it’s been such a pleasure meeting you at various events between New York and Chicago.*

In my conversations so far, many of you have asked how I maintain my relationships with various stakeholders–board members, employees, mentees. So this week I want to focus on communication. Think of your relationships with your people like a nice suit: they have to be bespoke. Don’t make the mistake of thinking one size fits all. Take the time to learn about people’s preferred communication styles, then tailor your communications dynamics accordingly.

Hack of the Week

Leadership Hack #42: Respect the communication preferences of the different stakeholders. That said, it’s always better to err on the side of communicating more rather than less, especially with sensitive subjects. Don’t worry about pestering someone. It’s better to pester than to let things fester.
