Wine Region Road Trip

When you think about visiting wine country, it is likely that a few specific regions in the world come to mind. Wine country locations can be found in many mid-latitude regions, and in the United States alone, there are nearly 300 wine trails.

If you’re interested in taking a wine tasting trip, there are almost endless ways that you can ensure you plan an experience and adventure worth celebrating. Finding out whether you can purchase food at the wineries or bring in your own is often wise, and it’s always a good idea to have snacks and water in your car. Morning, midweek, and off-season visits will help you avoid crowds, and sticking to just two or three wineries per day will allow you spend as much time as you like at your favorites. I recently discovered a clever microsite and infographic to help plan your wine country travel here.

No matter where you go, make sure that you first and foremost visit sites dedicated to the regions- e.g. Napa Valley Vintners’ website will have great tips on visiting Napa, Vins de Bordeaux’s site will have the same for visiting Bordeaux, Visit Rioja for visiting Rioja, and more.
